Blue Devil

(c)1997 Ralf Schulze
Acrylic paint on cheap blue poster board.
22 inches by 14 inches

Feel free to make an offer I have it here in Richmond.

The shine on the left side is because there is an under-painting of gold in the background.

(c)2011 Ralf Schulze

This is a small 8" x 10" canvasboard acrylic painting.
A lot of painting knife and liner brush work.  Had fun doing this.  It just happened!
Left is digitally trimmed, right is actual 8x10.

New Untitled

(c)2011 Ralf Schulze
It's been a while since I posted and I need to get back in the groove.  To jump-start that idea, I went to My pal Dave Currier in Charlottesville VA and we did a lot of art and listening to music while enjoying good food and drink.
This was the first thing I whipped out.  Acrylic on green acid-free 8.5 x 11 cardstock.
Many of the following post will be of small painted sketches I did that same evening!

Eat A Peach

(c)2009 Ralf Schulze
2 years ago in C'ville at my friend's studio, I painted over the Allman Bros. album cover Eat A Peach.  I liked it enough to put it in a frame and hang in my cubicle at work.

Finally took a picture of it!

Postcard Painting Sketches

(c)2011 Ralf Schulze
Last year I bought a pad of "Acrylic Painting Paper"  it's kind of odd but I like it.
It is thick paper embossed with a fake canvas texture, and to top off the oddness, the size is 6" x 12" .
I've used it for ACEO's and some other things, but last month I realized that I can make 3 postcards... (standard postcard size in USA is 6" x 4")
So I decided to do this as a whim while painting other stuff.

These are pencil and Acrylic paint.  I might or might not add to them. . . .

Coolness!

This is BIG on paper.

Oil, maybe acrylic, sharpie.

I hope you look at  the close-up (just click on the image)

I think this might be one of my best and it is probably around 40" x 60".

For Sale but in a raw state. It is rolled up.

This might be upside down if you see the signature!

The Crazy Glossary

(c)1986 Ralf Schulze
This was an old "poster" I made for the fun of it back in 1986.  I think I sold it to people at my job at Tallix art foundry for like 50 cents each.  It is 11" x 14"  I still have the pen and ink original also, but I wanted to show the faded poster printed in blue on white.

Plus I will go to C'ville soon to paint even more!!!

Abstract Paint Sketch

(c)2009 Ralf Schulze

This piece is a paint sketch on 12 x12  gray paper.

It bothers me that neither photo is actually true-to-life.

the top one is just a simple flash pic at a slight angle to avoid shine.  The bottom one is a straight on shot with 3 different lights aimed at the piece.  I enhanced both with my ancient pseudo-photoshop program.

The actual colors of the paint are close to the bottom shot, but the color of the paper is more like the top shot.

Long Landscape

(c)2010 Ralf Schulze
Made this paint sketch in 2009 while hanging with good friend in Charlottesville VA.
It is Acrylic Paint on 10.25" x 20.25" thin Masonite.
It is a landscape completely made up .  No photo, no outdoor view. This photo is a bit blurry.
I tweaked it in 2010. I have it here and it is for sale (make an offer)

Old Large Abstract Painting . . .

(c)1983 G. Tarjan

. . . that didn't turn out that good.
Sure, I spent hours and hours in class working in this, using painting knives and spray paint and even listening to a walkman so loud that the Teacher "scolded" me about it.

Yes it is approx. 68" x 55.5" oil and spray enamel on stretched canvas.  I'm sure that in the end, I left it in the old painting classroom at stony Brook  No real loss.

My old friend took the b&w photo of me in front of it.

Calm Splats

(c)1985 Ralf Schulze
The perfect combination of luck and control to create these splats was so fun!

And I knew exactly when it was finished!

Oil, acrylic, and enamel spray paint on stretched canvas.  27" x 32"  framed with thin pine slats.

American Landscape

(c)1984 Ralf Schulze
Another old "just around college graduation" piece.

I like this, because it is a vision of the future of my style.

It is approx 18" x 24" (maybe bigger) on stretched canvas and is Acrylic and oil and enamel spray paint.

I have no idea where this is now.

The Fish of Life

(c)2011 Ralf Schulze
A New Art Card!

Started last year with a weird old "watercolor pencil".
then slowly embellished with ink and watercolor.

2.5" x 3.5" is the originally painted size.

This is a theme I've been playng with for a few years.

Finally finished it this evening!

The Elevator Sun Flowers

(c) 1983 Ralf Schulze
My last year of College, and I took a "Public Arts" class and one assignment was to get a public art actually done, with permission and all.  So I got it to paint the elevator doors in the fine art building with this!

I was going to do the inside doors AND the outside doors of 3 floors, but All I got done was the inside doors.

What you see is 12" x 22" but the whole thing with a lot of writing on the sides and bottom (not in photo) is 20" x 30".

Oh yeah, this is India Ink and Gouache on Illustration Board.

Quake and Tsunami

(c) 2003 Ralf Schulze

I know, I made this 8 years ago but when I found it in my old portfolio, it immediately jumped out as a painting based on nature's destructive power...and currently the horrible destruction in Japan.
I never really liked this 16" x 20" acrylic paint on paper and don't know why I saved it until now.

Very 80's Blue Nude

(c)1984 Ralf Schulze
From Life drawing class of Robert White's (at SUNY at Stony Brook) that I used to frequent even after I graduated art school.

It is chalk pastels on 14" x 17" gray paper
